6 Month Check-Up

I had my 6 month check up with Dr. Brunner on Wednesday. I have come a long way in the last couple of months! Dr. Brunner was really impressed with my ability to sit up (almost without any help), interact, and stay focused on everything that was happening around me. She was also excited to hear about how well I am sleeping at night. I know, I know... I am a SUPER baby! I am still pretty little in terms of weight... just about 11.5 ounces. That's okay... I might be small, but I love life and that is what is most important!

P.S. I don't really like the nurse there... she is always trying to get Mommy to do things she doesn't want to do, like give me extra shots and leave me laying by myself on the table while I am getting my shots. Good thing Mommy speaks up for me! I don't need any extra shots and I would much rather be in Mommy's arms while I am being poked with a needle.

Grammy and Grandpa's Visit

Grammy and Grandpa Bob just left yesterday morning to head back to California. They had been visiting since last Saturday. Mommy and Daddy tried to convince them to stay a couple more days since the fires are still burning and they won't be allowed back on the mountain for awhile but Grammy really wanted to get back... I overheard her telling Mommy and Daddy that her house burnt down. Mommy was REALLY sad about it since it was the house she grew up in. In addition to Grammy losing everything she owns (including her car), Grandpa Kiemel's memory trunk was also lost. Mommy doesn't know all that was in it, but she knows it had important mementos from Grandpa's life. Luckily, Grammy and Grandpa were here visiting me during this horrible time... I kept their minds' off of the tragedy. We did all sorts of fun things together including an apple tasting party, the salmon hatchery, Triple X Rootbeer, shopping for new clothes, and a lot of eating out. Grammy and Grandpa introduced me to eating table foods. At each meal out, they always found something to give me... sometimes it was bread from their sandwich or the inside of a french fry. All I have to say about that is, "Mmm! Yummy!" We also had a lot of fun just hanging out together. I loved Grandpa's fuzzy beard and Grammy taught me all kinds of new things to do with my hands. Mommy says that we will see them again really soon since she and Daddy are planning to go down to California in a couple of weeks to help with Grammy's house. I can't wait!

Halloween Sneak Peek

Guess what came for me today? My Halloween costume! I was so excited that I couldn't sleep at all during my afternoon nap. Luckily, Mommy knew what was up... she let me try my costume on for a little bit. It is pretty big, but I don't mind... it just means that I will probably get to wear it again next year. I can't wait to wear it around town. Mommy said that she is going to put me in it for the Walk-A-Thon at her school on Friday. Yippee!!

Check Me Out!

Look, I am eating real food! After trying the rice cereal for a few days, Mommy has let me have carrots, potatoes, and pear. The carrots she picked from her school garden- 100% organic. Am I the luckiest baby or what? I think that my favorite food has been the carrots so far. Not only do they taste good but they are a bright orange color. I can't wait to find out what Mommy is going to let me try next.

Salmon Days

We went to both days of Salmon Days this weekend in Issaquah. Too bad I was asleep for all of the fun fishy parts. I overheard Mom and Dad talking about how much fun it was to see the fish trying to make it upstream to the hatchery. What a journey!

Only 30 More Days

I have started the countdown to my very first Halloween. I can't wait! Mommy was looking online today for my costume. I am not going to tell what I want to be since it will be more fun if it is a surprise. Leave me a comment with your guess... I would love to know what costume you think would make me look extra cute. While I am not going to trick-or-treat around the neighborhood, Mommy's going to take me to Daddy's office where they have indoor trick-or-treating. How exciting!!

Solids

I was introduced to my first solid food over the weekend- rice cereal. All I have to say is it's about time! I have been starring longingly at Mommy and Daddy's food for days now. They knew what I wanted and just weren't giving it to me. Anyway, the rice cereal isn't really that tasty (in fact, I would rather drink Mother's Milk) but I overheard Mommy saying that I should eat it for at least a week before I try something new. Hopefully, the next food they give me will be more flavorful. I will also remind them to take pictures of me eating so that you can see me in action.
